Favourite Book of his own: Probably the BFG. He loved inventing the wacky way the giant speaks.

The young Roald started speaking late, at about three years old, and his first words in Norwegian were "Papa’s slippers are under the bed".

He did not like: People with colds ; People who weren't honest and Christmas - he preferred Easter - perhaps it was all that CHOCOLATE!!

He once filled his ancient half-sister’s fiancé's pipe with goat droppings! YUK!!!

Roald once put his first wife’s coat in the freezer to store it through the summer. Pat was horrified but the coat was pretty chilled out!!

Favourite Illustrator: Quentin Blake of course!

Favourite Authors and Books as a Child: Beatrix Potter, Arthur Ransome, Hornblower Books.
