Roald Dahl

More Writing

An author of spooky short storiesAfter Dahl’s return home to England he continued to write short stories that got translated into many languages and sold very well all over the world. Among them are "Someone like you", "Kiss Kiss" and "Sweet Mystery Of Life". He wrote the novel "My Uncle Oswald" and a TV series "Tales of the Unexpected".

His books are full of imagination, mostly fantasy, a little cruel, a mix of funny and grotesque all worked out perfectly. Dahl didn’t just write for adults but children also, like "James and the Giant Peach", "Fantastic Mr Fox" and " Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" .He once said "I make my points by exaggerating wildly. That’s the only way to get through to children". But adults loved these as well.

He went on to write several film scripts including, the James Bond adventure "You only live Twice" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". He disliked many of the film of his own work.
